Cocoa Beach is one of my favorite beach towns in Florida, and I have visited 3 times so far. White sand beaches, Kennedy’s Space Center, amazing seafood restaurants, Cocoa Beach has it all.

Although Kennedy’s Space Center Visitor Complex closes at 5pm, there’s still plenty of exciting night time activities in Cocoa Beach!

To help you plan a fun trip, I’ve put together this list of the best things to do in Cocoa Beach at night. From bioluminescent kayaking to Irish pubs, there’s something on this list for everyone.

Things To Do In Cocoa Beach At Night

1. Go Bioluminescent Kayaking

Located between the Indian River and Atlantic Ocean, Cocoa Beach is a prime location for kayaking, and water sports.

Once the sun goes down, go on a bioluminescent kayaking tour around Merritt Island to see everything from bioluminescent dinoflagellates to dolphins.

This tour begins at sunset, and lasts 2 hours so it’s the perfect night time activity if you’re seeking an adventure. 

2. Play Mini Golf

After dinner, head to Golf N Gator or Lighthouse Cove to play mini-golf for a fun night out. 

Golf N Gator is a popular amusement center right next to Cocoa Beach with mini-golf, go-karts, an arcade, and mini-zoo. From holding baby alligators to racing mario style go-karts, this is an excellent place to take kids.

Lighthouse Cove is another miniature golf course that’s minutes away from Shepark Park. They play music, and serve ice cream, burgers, and drinks so it’s a fun venue for a night out.

3. Cruise Banana River During Sunset

Tucked between Cape Canaveral and Merritt Island, Banana River is a beautiful saltwater lagoon filled with wildlife. For a relaxing night out, go on a catamaran cruise through Banana River during sunset.

You’ll get to enjoy music, and spot dolphins and manatees on this 90 minute cruise. They’re located at the Sunset Waterfront Grill, so this is the perfect pre-dinner activity for a romantic night out. 

4. Shop At Ron Jon’s Surf Shop

Ron Jon’s Surf Shop is a 52,000 square foot surf shop that sells surf equipment, clothing, beach accessories, and more. This large surf shop has 2 levels, and a great selection of beachwear and souvenirs.

They’re open till 11pm daily, so you won’t want to miss stopping by to shop for souvenirs before you leave.

5. Kayak Through Mangrove Forests At Sunset

If you’re up for an adventure, go kayaking through mangrove tunnels at the Thousand Islands. The Thousand Islands are a chain of islands with protected mangrove forests and tons of wildlife.

On this tour, you’ll get to spot dolphins and manatees as you enjoy beautiful sunset views. Plus, you’ll get the chance to catch bioluminescent comb jellies with fish nets once the sun goes down!

6. Get Ice Cream At Gelati di Roma Ice Cream

Head to Gelati di Roma to try fresh homemade gelato from one of the best dessert spots in Cocoa Beach.

From fresh strawberry sorbet to pistachio gelato, you won’t want to miss trying this place if you’re a foodie. They’re minutes away from Cocoa Beach, near many restaurants making it the perfect after dinner spot.

7. Enjoy A Sunset Dinner At Coconuts On The Beach

Located right on Cocoa Beach, Coconuts On The Beach is one of the most popular restaurants in town. This restaurant serves amazing seafood, tropical drinks, and delicious desserts like pineapple creme brulee.

They have a tiki bar that plays live music, and outdoor seating right along the beach. Make sure to get outdoor seating to enjoy beautiful views of Cocoa beach during golden hour for a relaxing night out.

8. Solve An Escape Room With Friends

Stop by Escape Cocoa Beach to try and solve an escape room with a group of friends. This is a popular entertainment venue with everything from murdery mystery to space themed escape rooms.

You’ll get an hour to solve clues and puzzles to escape a room with a group of up to 6. They’re located within 5 minutes from the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier, near many good restaurants.

9. Enjoy Drinks On The Pier At Rikki Tiki Tavern

Rikki Tiki Tavern is a tropical bar at the end of Cocoa Beach Pier where you can enjoy food and drinks while watching the waves.

This is the perfect spot to unwind and watch the sunset, and they serve everything from coconut shrimp to piña coladas.

10. Have Trivia Night At Painting With A Twist

Painting With A Twist is a unique art studio that offers trivia nights where you can sip wine, paint, and play trivia with a group of friends.

You can pop in to paint, or reserve a private room for a party. They’re located in Cocoa Village, minutes away from Cocoa’s Riverfront Park.

11. Have A Sunset Picnic At Shepard Park

Shepard Park is a beautiful white sand beach with picnic tables, shower facilities, and bathrooms. It’s much less crowded than Cocoa Beach, so it’s the ideal spot for a sunset picnic. 

You can rent out beach chairs and umbrellas to lounge on the beach, and it’s within walking distance to Ron Jon’s Surf Shop.

12. Savor Clam Chowder From Jazzy’s Mainely Lobster

Head to Jazzy’s Mainely lobster to try some of the best fresh seafood in Cocoa Beach. They serve everything from New England style clam chowder to Connecticut style hot lobster rolls.

If you’re traveling to Florida for the first time, make sure to try their fried green tomatoes and classic key lime pie! They’re located in downtown, minutes away from Cocoa beach.

13. Listen To Live Music At Nolan’s Irish Pub

For dinner, head to Nolan’s Irish Pub for classic Irish food, draft beer, and live music. This cozy pub has trivia night on Tuesdays, ukulele night on Wednesdays, and live bands on Thursdays. 

They’re known for their Guinness, and they serve delicious traditional foods like shepherd’s pie and bangers and mash.

14. Watch A Show At The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse

If you’re a fan of theater, head to the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse to watch a show. This is a beautiful theater that hosts Broadway performances, with many shows starting at 7pm or later.

They’re located in downtown Cocoa Village, just down the street from Cocoa Riverfront Park.

15. Stroll Around Cocoa Riverfront Park

Stroll around Cocoa Riverfront Park in the old historic Cocoa Village to watch the sunset over the Indian River.

This popular waterfront park has an amphitheater, picnic pavilions, boardwalk, and children’s playground.

You can relax on one of the park benches, or attend a concert at their amphitheater. It’s surrounded by shops and restaurants so it’s the perfect evening spot to spend the night out. View a list of their upcoming events here.

Whether you want to go bioluminescent kayaking or attend a Broadway show, Cocoa Beach has something fun for everyone.

Most of Cocoa Beach’s museums and stores close at 6pm, but there’s still plenty of places open past 9pm.
